Holly Douglas’ Story
Back in 2016, I was heavily involved in a moms' group, a community that became a second family. It was more than just a group; it was a sanctuary where support, love, and understanding flowed freely. One of our own, a fellow mom, found herself in a heart-wrenching custody battle for her daughter. Moved by her struggle, I wanted to help in any meaningful way I could. That's when the idea struck: hosting a boudoir marathon.
The concept was simple but powerful – a series of boudoir sessions for the moms in our group. The goal was to raise funds for our friend's legal battle, but something more profound unfolded. As I photographed these incredible women, something magical happened. I witnessed transformations, not just in poses or outfits, but in how these women saw themselves. They arrived nervous, some doubting their beauty, their worth. Yet, as the sessions progressed, I saw them blossom. Their confidence surfaced, their inner strength and beauty radiating through every shot.
This experience was a revelation. I realized that boudoir photography was more than just taking sensual pictures. It was an avenue for empowerment, a tool for women to see themselves as they truly are – beautiful, strong, and worthy. It struck a personal chord with me, resonating with my journey as a survivor of domestic abuse and sexual assault. I understood the transformative power of reclaiming one's body and celebrating it, free from judgment or fear.
From that day, I knew my heart belonged to boudoir photography. It aligned perfectly with my core belief – celebrating individual beauty, promoting body positivity, and fostering an environment of inclusivity. It wasn't just about creating stunning images; it was about the experience, the journey of self-discovery and empowerment.
Since then, my career has been dedicated to this art form. I've had the honor of working with a diverse range of clients, each with their own story, struggles, and triumphs. Every session is a new opportunity to empower someone, to help them see their beauty, both inside and out.
Boudoir photography is more than my profession; it's my passion and my platform to make a difference. It's a celebration of who we are, in all our unique glory. It's about loving ourselves, just as we are, and capturing that love in timeless images.
That moment, back in 2016, was more than just a fundraiser. It was the beginning of a beautiful journey, one that I am grateful for every day. As I continue this journey, I am constantly reminded of the power of a simple photograph to transform, empower, and celebrate the incredible journey of being a woman.
Courtney Bell’s Story
When I decided to open my first photography studio waaaay back in 2004, the very first person who ever called my professional business number was a woman inquiring about a boudoir maternity session (but this was back before boudoir was really a “thing”). She said, “I’m over 40 years-old and I’m pregnant with twins. This is going to be my one and only pregnancy, so I really wanted to document and preserve the memory of my pregnant body with some tastefully nude portraits. But there’s a catch…” She went on to explain that she was actually calling me from her hospital room because the doctor had decided a few hours earlier that it would be best to induce her a little ahead of schedule, and she was scheduled to deliver her twins THE VERY NEXT DAY! Without hesitation, I said, “As long as you’re in a private hospital room, I’ll pack up a backdrop and some lights and be there tomorrow morning!”
And that’s exactly what I did. I was able to successfully transform her private hospital room into a makeshift photography studio for a few hours the next day, and we took some really beautiful, artistic, nude portraits. Then, just four hours after I left the hospital, my client delivered the most gorgeous set of twins! :)
Let me tell you, booking a nude maternity session as my very first paid professional photoshoot made me feel SO BADASS as a young photographer! More than that, though, I immediately understood this experience meant so much more to my client and her partner than simply having some nice maternity photos. It was about documenting this precious time in her life and the changes her amazing body underwent while growing two healthy babies. (No pressure, btw!)
A few weeks later, when she saw the edited photos for the first time, she cried happy tears and told me that she and her family were going to cherish these portraits forever. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the moment my love of boudoir photography was born. (No pun intended.)
Twenty years later, helping women realize their worth and how beautiful they are is still my greatest passion. I’m so thankful and excited to have started the next chapter in my career as a proud member of the Holly Douglas & Co. professional boudoir photography team!

HDCO’s New East Nashville Boudoir Studio is Officially Open!
After months of moving chaos - including a few small renovations to the new studio space, lots of organization, designing our new boudoir sets, and, of course, decorating - Holly Douglas & Co. officially opened our new studio doors to photograph the first boudoir session of 2024 just last week! The lovely Miss A. had the honor of christening our new space, and she gave us permission to share some behind-the-scenes photos from her photoshoot. So, without further ado, we are excited to present this first glimpse inside Holly Douglas and Company’s new East Nashville luxury boudoir studio!
Office / Glam Room
The first stop in Miss A.’s boudoir experience was our bright and welcoming Office/Glam Room. This room is set up with a well-organized glam station where our talented hair & makeup artists can fully pamper our clients before their photoshoots.
Our office desk and computer are set up next to the glam station, and this is where HDCO’s photographers, Holly Douglas and Courtney Bell, will conduct their clients’ same-day Image Reveal sessions after each photoshoot.
Being one of the smaller rooms inside the studio, we were surprised by how the Office/Glam Room manages to feel cozy and intimate without feeling crowded at all. There is actually plenty of space for the photographers and hair & makeup artists to comfortably work side-by-side. We also LOVE the gorgeous natural light that pours in through our East-facing window!
Client Closet
While Miss A. was having her hair and makeup done by our talented artist, Katie, Holly got busy pulling some wardrobe options from our amazing new Client Closet! Holly has spent years curating this fabulous, size-inclusive collection of fine lingerie and accessories for our clients to borrow for their photoshoots, but she’s never been able to display this impressive collection in a way that truly does it justice…until now!
This space in the studio is actually perfect for use as our Client Closet, as it is right outside the restroom/changing room door. Holly and her husband installed this beautiful, industrial-style closet rack system, and heavy curtains were hung to separate the closet from our kitchen area.
Main Living Area
With Miss A.’s hair and makeup camera-ready and her most flattering lingerie pieces chosen, Holly decided to begin her photoshoot in our studio’s Main Living Area.
This room is so spacious that we were able to create two living room sets in one area! However, because Holly decorated both sitting areas in her trademark, maximalist/eclectic style, both sides of the room still look cohesive. This means that we can photograph either side of the room as individual sets, but also photograph the entire space as one large set. Talk about variety!
Bedroom Set
Next up for Miss A.’s boudoir session was our feminine Bedroom Set. This room faces East and is next to our Office/Glam Room, so it also receives tons of gorgeous light! However, it’s a larger room than the office and features three beautiful windows.
When decorating this set, Holly combined both modern and vintage-inspired furniture/decor to give the Bedroom Set a soft and romantic vibe.
Library / Den Set
Holly saved our favorite boudoir set (so far) for last - the Library/Den set! We’re not really sure why this particular room in our new boudoir studio has been our favorite room since day one, but it has. It faces North, just like our Main Living Area, so it receives softer, more indirect light throughout the day, which is every photographer’s dream!
Holly wanted to give this set a much more masculine vibe, so she created a Library/Den featuring a bookshelf, leather sofa, leopard print armchair, wooden coffee table, plants, and several different lamps to give the space warmth.

Overall, we are SO pleased with the photos that were captured during our first photoshoot at the new studio,! We are SO EXCITED to finally announce that Holly Douglas & Co. are in the process of moving into a BEAUTIFUL new studio space located in East Nashville, Tennessee!
That's right! Beginning in 2024, Holly Douglas & Company will no longer have two separate boudoir photography studios. We are consolidating the luxury boudoir experience previously offered at the downtown Nashville studio and the classic boudoir experience previously offered at the Gallatin studio and taking things to a WHOLE OTHER LEVEL at our new East Nashville studio location!
You guys, this space is incredible, and we cannot wait to begin photographing boudoir sessions here! Trust us, the “before” pics shown below do not do it justice, nor do they show off the entire studio space. (Not pictured: A spacious restroom, a large Client Closet area, our “portrait nook,” client lounge, and a very nice, updated kitchen!)

Good lord, where do we even BEGIN?!?!
For starters, the building itself used to be an old church, so it's full of character and charm. Exposed brick and beautiful wood floors everywhere!
Secondly, our new studio is much larger than any of our previous boudoir studios! This incredible space is a whopping 1700 square-feet and contains MULTIPLE different rooms, allowing us to offer a wide variety of sets during every boudoir photoshoot! (And did we mention the gorgeous exposed brick and beautiful wood floors throughout?)
The new Holly Douglas and Co. location is in a great little neighborhood, right in the heart of East Nashville, with plenty of parking available. (BONUS!) So, during the one-hour break between your boudoir photoshoot and same-day Image Reveal, there are plenty of local shops and restaurants nearby (some within walking distance of our studio) for you to explore and enjoy!

While we have already wrapped up the boudoir sessions for 2023 that were scheduled at the luxury downtown studio, we still have a number of 2023 boudoir sessions scheduled at our classic boudoir photography studio, Studio 110 in Gallatin, TN. If you currently have a boudoir session scheduled with us there in 2023, your photoshoot will still take place at that location. Otherwise, all future boudoir sessions, including those that have already been scheduled to take place in 2024, will all be in our new East Nashville studio, located at 1101 Chapel Avenue, Suite 202!
