Miss S’ Boudoir Testimonial

One More Hard, Scary Thing

We at Holly Douglas & Co. believe that EVERY woman should experience a boudoir photoshoot at least once in her lifetime. We love empowering women and boosting their self-confidence through the art of boudoir photography! Of course, people expect to hear that from us, the boudoir photographers, because we do this for a living. Boudoir testimonials written by our past clients who have actually experienced a boudoir session, on the other hand, are the most convincing! For this reason, Holly Douglas & Co. proudly features a new boudoir experience testimonial blog each week.

This week's boudoir experience testimonial comes from the gorgeous Miss S., who was photographed at our luxury boudoir studio in downtown Nashville, Tennessee!

How did you hear about Holly Douglas Boudoir?

I saw an advertisement for Holly Douglas Boudoir on Facebook.

Why did you choose Holly Douglas Boudoir for your session?

I chose Holly Douglas because she featured beautiful women of all sizes.

What made you decide to take the leap of faith and do a boudoir session?

I've always secretly wanted to do a boudoir shoot. I've had some big life changes recently, and I turned 50. Part of those life changes have meant doing hard and scary things and I wanted to see myself differently. I wanted to feel beautiful, sexy and alive, so I decided to do one more hard and scary thing and booked a session.

Were you nervous about the shoot beforehand? If so, what were you most nervous about?

I was terrified beforehand - literally broke out in hives, I was so nervous. In school, I was one of those girls that changed for gym class in the bathroom stall. I don't even go around my house without a bra if there is someone else home. I was worried about being so exposed in front of other people and I was afraid I wouldn't like my photos.

Did you become more comfortable after the session started? If so, what helped to relax your nerves?

When I walked in, I was greeted like an old friend. I was told not to worry about my wardrobe and given the coziest robe to put on. We started with hair and makeup where I was liberally peppered with sincere compliments. We chatted and laughed and I began to relax as Holly worked her magic. Finally it came time to model some outfits and I took a deep breath and stepped out in front of Holly and Leslie where I was greeted with YES, Girl!! That is Hot! So much hype. From there it became easier and I stopped worrying about how my body looked.

What was your favorite part of the experience and why?

My favorite part of the experience was hanging with Holly and Leslie. It reminded me of teen sleepovers with all the gossip, laughter and playing dress up. Thankfully no one froze my bra, but some of my assets did get hosed down with water.

How did you feel during your session?

The session moved quickly. There wasn't time to obsess or worry, just lots of "yes girl" and enjoying being the center of attention.

Describe how you felt when you saw your images for the first time.

I was surprised and shocked when I saw my pictures. I truly didn't expect to like them and there were so many I actually loved.

How has your relationship with your body changed since your session?

I'll be honest, I'm still not in love with my body, but I'm more accepting of it. What absolutely floored me was my face. I haven't felt pretty in so long and to see my face as beautiful is a total confidence boost. I don't feel invisible any more.

What would you say to people who say they can't do a boudoir session because they are too shy, nervous, etc?

Do it. Do the shoot. Holly will work within your comfort zone and still bring out the sexy. You will surprise yourself! I started in a long sleeved PJ top and shorts and ended in a red lace teddy.

Anything else you'd like to add?

Don't let wrinkles, bad skin, your size (big or small) stand in your way. If you want to do it, do it, and do it for yourself!

Thank you so much for this boudoir experience testimonial, Miss S.!

Miss C’s Boudoir Testimonial

Creating a Core Memory

We at Holly Douglas & Co. believe that EVERY woman should experience a boudoir photoshoot at least once in her lifetime. We love empowering women and boosting their self-confidence through the art of boudoir photography! Of course, people expect to hear that from us, the boudoir photographers, because we do this for a living. Boudoir testimonials written by our past clients who have actually experienced a boudoir session, on the other hand, are the most convincing! For this reason, Holly Douglas & Co. proudly features a new boudoir experience testimonial blog each week.

This week's boudoir experience testimonial comes from the gorgeous Miss C., who was photographed at our luxury boudoir studio in downtown Nashville, Tennessee!

How did you hear about Holly Douglas Boudoir?

I was researching boudoir photographers in Nashville and Holly Douglas Boudoir was on a top 10 list on a blog I stumbled upon.

Why did you choose Holly Douglas Boudoir for your session?

I immediately fell in love with her aesthetic. The moody, shadowy vibe was exactly what I was looking for. There wasn't a photo of hers I didn't like.

What made you decide to take the leap of faith and do a boudoir session?

It's been on my bucket list for a hot minute and I came to the realization I'm not getting any younger or any hotter so now is the time, why keep waiting?

Were you nervous about the shoot beforehand? If so, what were you most nervous about?

Of course! I think most people are nervous to do something new for the first time, especially when it's something so bold. I was nervous I wouldn't know what I was doing and be the first client who she couldn't pull a sexy facial expression from. (spoiler, that did not happen!)

Did you become more comfortable after the session started? If so, what helped to relax your nerves?

Yes! I think sitting in the glam chair getting all dolled up, listening to music, drinking some bourbon, and laughing with the team was what put me at ease immediately.

What was your favorite part of the experience and why?

Oh heck, that's a hard one! I have never had professional photographs taken so it was a ton of fun for me to be glammed up and posing; not to mention Holly is the BEST hype girl in town. I felt so sexy and empowered during the shoot. But also, the reveal. Seriously the whole thing was my favorite part!

How did you feel during your session?

I felt sexy, empowered, beautiful.... I felt like I was creating a core memory of doing something bold in life & it was just for me and nobody else.

Describe how you felt when you saw your images for the first time.

Literal gasps when I saw the photos. I couldn't believe it was me. I felt so beautiful, confident, sexy, just wow!

How has your relationship with your body changed since your session?

This was a huge step in my journey to seeing myself as the main character of my story. I've had a bad habit of seeing myself as the cute & funny sidekick who was always a little too chubby and didn't get the boys' attention. I assumed sexy wasn't on my list of adjectives. But now, when I look at myself I can see all the facets - the sexy, bold, beautiful, sassy, bad ass boss babe that I am. Now, when I start down that path of negative self-talk, letting society tell me I don't fit their beauty standards, or picking to pieces my body I can pull out my boudoir photos and be reminded of the TRUTH. Healing negative body self image is a slow and continuous journey, but I'm so glad I took this fun leap in the right direction.

What would you say to people who say they can't do a boudoir session because they are too shy, nervous, etc?

You can be shy and nervous and still do bold things! If this is truly something you want to do for yourself then don't let self-doubt, nerves or being shy hold you back. Holly will make you feel so comfortable and never push you past your boundaries of comfort. I promise you the experience and the results will be so worth those butterflies. Just do it, babes!

Thank you so much for this boudoir experience testimonial, Miss C.!

A Boudoir Session is About Embracing Who You are NOW

In this blog, we will explain why having a boudoir session with Holly Douglas & Co. in Nashville, Tennessee, will help you embrace your body and who you are right NOW, at this stage of your life.

A Boudoir Session is About Embracing Who You are NOW

No matter your size, age, shape, color, or gender - you are beautiful. Always have been and always will be. In this blog, we will explain why having a boudoir session with Holly Douglas & Co. in Nashville, Tennessee, is all about embracing your body and who you are right NOW, at this stage of your life.

How a Boudoir Session Can Help You Grow

Push it real good!

Yes, a boudoir photoshoot can be about pushing your limits. Boudoir sessions have a way of helping you step outside of your comfort zone to see yourself differently. They help you embrace the body you have now and love the way you look in photos.

This can be especially important if you're fighting the demons so many of us face. Body dysmorphia, diet culture, and traumatic life events find many women looking for something to help empower them rather than tell them what they "should" look like. A boudoir experience with Holly Douglas & Co. in Nashville can do that for you.

The Connection Between Boudoir & Emotion

Over the past few pandemic years, our bodies and self-worth have taken a hit. Now, more than ever, we need to prioritize self-care.

But the term β€œself-care” isn’t limited to just pedicures and lattes...it's also about caring for your emotional well-being.

Boudoir portraits are about so much more than just baring your body. They are about baring your soul. The connection between boudoir and emotion can be rather powerful. At Holly Douglas & Co., we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to make that connection and be reminded of the beauty they have, inside as well as out.

There is No Perfect Body Type For Boudoir

It doesn't matter if you are petite, mid-size, or plus-sized - boudoir photography is for EVERY body!

Again, this experience is all about embracing who you are NOW, not the person you think you’ll become if you β€œjust lose a few pounds first.” A boudoir session is an amazing opportunity to celebrate all that you have been through to become the incredible person you are today, no matter your current age or size.

We Have Seen Woman Healed After a Boudoir Session

Yes, in some cases, a boudoir session can be a very emotionally healing experience. It's cathartic for some when they are finally able to embrace their bodies and allow themselves to feel beautiful. And you should know that our private boudoir studio is a safe space. The Holly Douglas & Co. team is here for you - we understand that this is a vulnerable experience, and everything that happens within our Nashville studio walls is kept here, unless you want to share the experience.

It's kind of like Fight Club, but a hell of a lot sexier!

What Questions Do You Have About a Boudoir Session?

We would love the opportunity to show you firsthand how a boudoir session is all about embracing who you are NOW! However, we also understand that, sometimes, the first step is the hardest. Therefore, if you're curious about a having a boudoir session with Holly Douglas & Co. but aren’t sure if it's the right time for you, we encourage you to get in touch. We're happy to tell you more about the process, show you our gorgeous, luxury Nashville boudoir studio, and discuss your hopes and fears regarding your own boudoir experience.
